If sedation dentistry is supposed to help you relax, why use needles? Not all patients are great candidates for IV sedation, and that’s completely okay! We have the ability to help you relax during your visit with needleless sedation dentistry. Both show amazing results for patients with dental anxiety, and our experienced periodontist can help you choose which is best for you!
What is IV Sedation Dentistry?
Depending on the procedure you’re undergoing or the level of your anxiety, IV sedation may be an option for you. This falls into the middleground of sedation dentistry, where it’s a heavier form of sedation, but you’re still awake. While IV sedation yields great results, a lot of patients don’t appreciate the needles involved. Intravenous means that a needle is used to place a line in your vein for administration of the medication.
What is Needleless Sedation Dentistry?
If you’re not a fan of needles, we have other options for you! Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a gentler form of sedation. And, oral sedation provides a moderate sedation for a deeper relaxation with a pill.
With nitrous oxide, you will be able to drive yourself home; however, you will need to arrange transportation for stronger forms of sedation. These both are needleless options that can keep you calm throughout the duration of your treatment.
